Airway Diseases
Airway (breathing tubes) diseases like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are common causes of a chronic cough. Both conditions involve inflamed and narrowed airways. In asthma, this is caused by overly sensitive airways in response to triggers. COPD meanwhile is typically caused by smoking, an irreversible lung damage that worsens over time.
Lung Infection
Pneumonia is a lung infection caused by various pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, tuberculosis, and occasionally fungi, Pneumonia cases can range from mild, moderate, to severe with common presenting symptoms like cough, fever, and shortness of breath.
Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILD)
ILD are a diverse group of chronic conditions characterised by inflammation and scarring (fibrosis) of the supportive tissue of the lungs. ILD may be triggered by environmental exposure, medications, autoimmune issues, or unknown cause (idiopathic) in some cases.
Pleural Diseases
Pleural diseases (Pleural is a cavity between the lungs and the chest cavity) typically may involve inflammation or fluid accumulation (pleural effusion) from infection, inflammation or malignancies.
Sleep Disordered Medicine
Sleep Disorders Medicine specializes in diagnosing and treating conditions like sleep apnea, insomnia, and restless legs syndrome, which significantly disrupt normal sleep and impact overall health. These disorders can lead to poor sleep quality, fatigue and serious health risks, necessitating accurate identification through specialized diagnostics such as Polysomnography (sleep study).
Lung Cancer
Lung cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the lung tissue. It is categorised primarily as either non-small cell or small cell lung cancer, and is most frequently linked to smoking though environmental factors do contribute. Early stages often present without symptoms, while later stages may involve advanced symptoms like unexplained weight loss and breathlessness. We utilise advanced diagnostics for early detection and deliver personalised, multidisciplinary treatment plans to optimize patient outcomes.
